Diversity in society is something that should be valued. Many countries have been affected by an increasing arrival of inmigrants, and in general, the local population have been seeing those foreign people as a bad influence for their society. However, these inmigrants can contribute with their own traditions and enrich the local culture, bringing a different perspective and helping to understand the differences in the societies.
The people that live in a place with lots of cultural manifestations have more awareness of the particularities of each culture, so they can empathize with the differences that they present and understand that all kind of lifes are equally valuable. This allows in the respect for every culture, and decreases the probability of racism or xenofobism attacks in the territory. We have to consider that all rights are human rights, independing of the originating culture, whereby the valorization of the diversity helps to increase this respect.

Forms of Mapuche's resistance

The conquest of the territory of Chile by the spanish men in XVI centruary, and later the foundation of Chile as a nation and an independent state has developed a lot of problems to the indigean population in the territory. One of them, the Mapuches, resisted to the both processes and actually the State recognized Mapuches as an autonomous; but in 1861 didn't respect the deals between the them and started the campain called "Pacification of Araucanía", which took away the lands of the native people. Today, this problem is still present, and far from disappear, the Mapuche people have been resisting and reivindicationg their territories.
